"The fallacy of 'Without education, all one can do is have sex'"
/emoji/twitter icon I believe that education prevents the situation where when two people, a man and a woman, become adults, they either drink alcohol or have sex when meeting. When highly educated people meet, they can talk endlessly about literature, religion, philosophy, ideology, politics, and culture. This tweet has caused a slight commotion (it has been referred to by various people), so I decided to write down my thoughts.
Firstly, the comparison made between sex and education (literature, religion, and philosophy, for example) caught my attention.
Is the underlying issue an either/or binary opposition between "genetic (inheritance)" or "cultural (meme)"? It seems there are many people who share this view.
Is it the case that people who don't support the genetic standpoint take an anti-meme position and believe memes are superior?
As someone with personal beliefs, I think education is communication in its entirety and so it should not be fragmented into topics.
Ultimately, I believe even sex is an educational form of communication.
In that sense, I want to propose the concept of "Sex as a physical form of communication that surpasses education".
